Wrongfully Right – P.0.

She was in love with a wrong boy.

Who is to say what is right and what is wrong in the person you may choose to love. But does love give you a choice? Maybe so.

She saw him on the roadside near her college building as she was crossing the road to catch the bus home. He saw her, probably, but she didn’t notice because she was elated at topping her business communication class. For her he was a classmate whom she never saw in class, not really friendly but an occasional nod worthy acquiantance.

On reaching home, she hugged her mom and gave her the proud news of topping her class – ” You know Ma, I topped in class of 180″. Her mother beamed with pride and promised her her favorite treat.

Going about her days, she never could guess how her world was to change.

As she rushed to catch her bus home, her ankle twisted and she fell in to the puddle just as her bus left the stop without her. Muttering painfully, she pulled herself up and started to examine herself.

‘Are you ok?’, he asked. Startled she turned to see him inquiring her wellbeing though unsmiling and vaguely irritated as if she had caused him great inconvenience by falling. ‘Yup’, she replied as she rubbed her ankle to ease the initial shock of the fall. He didn’t move nor did he offer any help. She bid him goodbye and hailed a rickshaw home slightly puzzled by him.

‘Hope you are feeling better’, a message from an unknown number popped on her screen as she was scrolling through her phone on the way to college next day. Though she knew who it could be, she anyway texted, ‘May I know who’s this?’. Her day went about as usual.

As she walked towards her bus stop she heard voice behind her, ‘It was me who texted you earlier today’. She turned with a half smile and a tilt of her head, ‘ Well, you could have replied over text too’. ‘Hmmm’, he responded while seemingly looking at her as if for the first time. She felt a slight flutter in her stomach as their eyes met…or was it her heart…she wasn’t sure but she hadn’t felt that in a while. His dark eyes seemed to be scanning her as if to make sure she is who she is, his tall frame stood awkwardly unsure of himself. After what seemed like eternity he said, ‘ Want to have some coffee?’.
